In 2017, while living in Australia, I developed my first solo cabaret, "Ex-Patriot," on the theme of leaving home -- and whatever that means to you.
A show about leaving relationships, religion, your hometown, and your native land in the dust.
An American who lived abroad in the age of Drumpf, this writer/actress/musician/pastor's kid/bohemian weirdy sings raw, relatable tales of relationship failure, questionable success, and following your instincts ... sometimes to the other side of the planet. With exactly no help from her highly practical undergrad degree in Biblical Studies, Miriam musically navigates leaving the church, her hometown, shitty boyfriends, and eventually, America, using the music of Broadway, Dixie Chicks, Patty Griffin, and more.
